My other half and I bought very expensive cookware several years ago at one of the big bulk outlets. The gentleman demonstrating these pans did a very impressive job of convincing us that these were the “have to have” pans. From the beginning they wobbled instead of sitting flat on the burners. The omelet he so cleverly flipped in the pan remained glued to the bottom of my pan and took a meat cleaver and two heavy German guys to get it off.
For Christmas I asked for the Paula Dean pans. Mine are red speckly pans that not only are very pretty and reasonably priced but miracle of miracles nothing sticks to them. They cook fabulously on medium heat and are not only attractive, affordable, but extremely functional.
One tip, in any pan that has a protective coating on it, never use cooking spray or put them in the dishwasher. Apparently this ruins the coating and cannot be undone.
I’m down with the morphing bug today. Apparently it presents itself differently in everybody. People who have been the lucky recipient of it’s generosity and it’s ilk are exhibiting different symptoms. For me, the symptoms are I feel like crap. Is there a drug to relieve crap? I’d pay big money for it.
Was watching the commercials on TV last night for the myriad of prescription drugs that are flooding the airways with their messages of good will and side effects. How do you consciensiously put an advertisement before the thinking public that says this drug will cure asthma but the side effects include death, dismemberment, green seeping goo oozing from under your armpits, and basic body scum. Are we stupid? Why is it, by the way, that the same drugs that we are charged a small fortune for seem to sell in countries outside of the U.S. for a fraction of the price? I picked up a bottle of eyedrops the other day that was the size of a raisin and was charged $125.00 for it. Are they crazy, or is it me? Inquiring minds want to know.
Apparently several large insurance companies have decided that an excellent idea in the present economy would be to increase their rates by as much as 47%. What? Did they miss their yearly bonuses and vacation retreats to Maui? Pisses me off. In a country as vast in resources as this what is happening to us? Do we just sit quietly and bend over? I don’t know what the answer is but surely a lot of us have a number of questions?
Okay, I’ll quiet down. I’m going upstairs to put a $15.00 drop of eyedrops in my eye and take a nap.
