I was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia blumfergibbit years ago, and moved to California when I was nine. I’ve lived all over the U.S. since then and had the good fortune to try many different kinds of cuisines and meet some really great and colorful friends in my travels.
These days I’m working as a freelance graphic illustrator and have a website with my original art in the public marketplace. Cooking and writing run close seconds to my art as things I am passionate about. I’ve been commissioned to illustrate a children’s book, which for me is an entirely appropriate endeavor, being about 20% grownup and 80% kid in my makeup.
Presently I live on a lake in Northern California with my best friend and other half, Rick, and Miss Boo, the Queen of cats who is actually the proprietor of the establishment and puts the “e” in entitlement.
Hopefully, you’ll enjoy some of my recipes and take a laugh with you from time to time.
I like your blog very much and look forward to your updates! You are providing laughs and I enjoy cooking so I look forward to your recipes. Bon appetit!

Susie
just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your article yesterday [the new boat/deviled eggs] – it has been forwarded it to several friends! I had to take that damn boating class quite a few times, and the struggle continues… 🙂 regards~
Tashia, thank you for reading. It was totally silly. We finally had to sell the boat when the restaurant grabbed too much of our time, and I was just getting good at it.
Susie

Believe it or not, I am buying Clarke Island just off the coast of Halifax. I will be traveling there Feb.10 to close on the property. The current owner, Tod Maitland, explained to me that Halifax is a truly Cosmopolitan Community of approx. 500,000 citizens from all walks of life, and highly intelligent and friendly.
Can’t wait to get there and walk my new Island. I may but Evans Island as well,
if it is still on the market. I plan to leave both Islands in their natural pristine condition, and NO SUBDIVIDING FOR SURE. I will be constructing my home/office there to spend the next 73 years in peace & harmony…UFFDA!!
Nice speaking with you…. Andrew Norman McDoneld ~ 414-551-1200 Int.Cell
HI….. You have to try my new fried fruit….. awesome to say the least and very easy to fix. Sounds weird doesn’t it ? However, it is heavenly. I just invented it today, using what I had on hand, and a little imagination thrown in. I beleive one could possibly begin a Cafe Chain featuring this new treat. Advise?

Hey! I live in Northern California too. I’m just outside Sacramento. How about you? I also love cooking. My novel centers around food and the comfort it brings. Love your blog!
Robin, thanks. We’re an hour and a half north of Sacramento. Sounds like we have some common threads!
Yes we do. Hmm….Orland? Corning? The Olive Capitol of the world?
Ah, you’re really close to us – we’re in Oroville
We are practically neighbors. Hour and a half away neighbors, but neighbors nonetheless.
Yup, we’ll have to keep up with one another – yes?
Absolutely.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and follwoing it as well, looking foward to your great recipes and journey, well no snakes please! lol

Peri.
I’ve nominated you for an Illuminating Blogger Award. Nominations in these things = receiving award. You can see the rules, etc. here: http://bluegrassnotes.wordpress.com/2012/05/24/awards-again/
Your Miss Boo would have a hay day with our Mr. Perkins and Lady Morgana, two very hoydee toydee cats who truly rule the roost of L&L Photography. Can’t wait to read more of your blog posts.
Yes, Boo is a bit of a name dropper and quite full of entitlement. Mouse, on the other hand is more street wise and understands how to get her own food. That would be most beneath Miss Boo, the Queen of Cats. How nice that you stopped by and took the time to comment. Thanks for the nice words.
LOVE your blog and therefore I have nominated you for the “One Lovely Blog” award. Check out http://mumchic.com/2012/06/23/something-lovely-something-inspiring/ to claim.

Kendall, thank you so much. What nice words and thoughts on a day where I rather needed them. Very nice – I will pass this on sometime in the near future, and again thanks for thinking of me.
I use to dream about writing children’s novels. What a wonderful endeavor! I grew up in (central/northern) California myself! Trying to imagine what lake you are living on. I love Northern California and all the way up to where we are …Seattle, Washington! 🙂
I have written one but haven’t illustrated it as yet. I’ve also illustrated one for another author. My inner child is alive and well and I find children’s minds so imaginative and open, it makes it fun to write to them.
I lived in Bellevue, WA when my kids were babies. Also lived in Longview. One of my favorite states.
Lake Oroville is about 2 hrs. north of Sacramento.
Wow! We have traveled in close circles. I know exactly where Lake Oroville is. Beautiful lake! I used to spend a lot of time at Englebright Lake when I was a kid. Enjoy your gorgeous lake today! 🙂
Love your blog and your artwork! Thanks for your visit.
Thanks so much. Appreciate you stopping by and saying hello!
Thanks for the visit in my neck of the woods…it led me to your beautiful corner of the web. 🙂 I’ll certainly look forward to your future posts and discovering the ones I missed as well!
Nancy thanks so much. I’ll keep an eye on you as well. 🙂

Marla, well aren’t I pleased you stopped by. It was lovely to meet you. Some people just instantly touch your heart, and you were one of those for me. Perhaps our paths were meant to cross today.
